About the Invention

The ZipNut is an alternative solution for a nut on a bolt. The main advantage is that it can fit many sizes of bolts where common bolts must be exact for each bolt. It will contour to the bolt as it is being pushed/threaded through.
It is light and flexible but still strong enough to hold a bolt in place. It has serrated edges on the outside rim to help hold it from slipping while being mounted.

In the center there are 4 vanes, each with approximately 15 protruding fins that feed into the bolt or screw’s threads. The vanes are flexible and this helps the fins grip the bolt threads. It can be plastic or metal depending on the strength needed.

It has many advantages in addition to working with multiple diameter bolts, it also works with screw as well. Since the ZipNut conforms to the bolt or screw, it works with threads that wind clockwise or counter-clockwise.

The plastic version of the Zipnut can handle lightweight projects like hanging cups on hooks in a pantry and the metal version is well suited for heavier duty such as holding materials together.
Any toolkit would benefit having several sets of Zipnuts to cover almost any purpose.
